Mia is doing really well. We still have not had any tears, but she is learning what is acceptable behavior. We are working with her on her speech. It seems that she doesn't speak much at all. She is really good at using signs. It appears that is how she is familiar with communicating. The signs makes it easy for us to understand what she needs and wants. She does say "no", "mama" and "one". We have been able to get her to say "please". We have also used some Chinese words to just get her equating words with response. Our guide talks to her in Chinese and she understands things easily. I think she was not asked to talk because of her cleft, so it will be a long road. We are happy with her trying so hard to talk to us.
